The Enquiry You Answer in Five Minutes Is a Different Enquiry
Speed of response quietly decides more deals than price. Automation is how a small team responds like a large one.

The cost of the unanswered hour
Most enquiries are sent to more than one supplier. The one that replies first frames the conversation, sets the specification and often defines the comparison the buyer uses on everyone else.
For a small team, replying instantly around the clock is not a discipline problem. It is a systems problem.
Start with one workflow that pays for itself
Do not attempt to automate the business. Automate the single sequence that touches the most revenue: capture the enquiry from every channel, acknowledge it immediately with something genuinely useful, route it to the right person, and escalate it if nobody responds within the agreed window.
Once that loop is reliable, quotation generation and follow-up reminders are natural extensions of the same data.
Keep a human where judgement matters
Automation should remove retyping, chasing and forgetting. It should not remove the person who reads the situation and decides what to offer. The best implementations draft; people approve.
Measure response time before and after. It is the one metric that moves visibly in the first month.
